Howdy Aggie Moms!
I just cannot believe that it is December already – and 2007 will soon be just a memory. December is, I guess, my favorite month of the year because of Christmas. My memories of Christmas as a child are very wonderful and vivid, especially when I look at old pictures of those Christmas’ with my parents and my sister. I hope I’m creating those kinds of memories for my children – and now also, my grandchildren! I sometimes feel that I am reliving my childhood memories of Christmas through the eyes of my grandchildren and feel fortunate to have shared so many with them! I hope that this Christmas will bring each Aggie Mom special memories with your Aggie – and all of your family – this year!
Speaking of special memories, we are planning a very special event for our Christmas meeting this year and hope that it will become a special Christmas memory for all of you! We will have a Christmas gathering at the home of Judy and Tim Turner on Thursday, December 20 beginning at 6 p.m. The information about this is in this newsletter, including directions to the Turner home. For those who would like to carpool and/or caravan together, we will leave from the parking lot of
Trinity
Lutheran
Church at 5:30 p.m. and proceed to the Turner ranch. This will be a social gathering and we do not plan to conduct any Aggie Mom business at that time – unless something really urgent turns up between now and then! All members are asked to bring their favorite Christmas “finger food” to share. ALSO, this is a time to share with spouses and your Aggies, so please invite them to this event as well. Join us in what will become a wonderful Christmas memory of your time with San Angelo Aggie Moms!
We are getting closer to the Singing Cadets performance – January 10th is NOT that far away! We are looking for more sponsors for this event, as we want to offer this as a free concert to the community and can only do this if we line up enough sponsors to help us out. If you, your business, your church – whatever! – would like to be a sponsor, contact
Suzy Mears right away and she will give you the information. Help us present the wonderful Singing Cadets to the greater
San Angelo community as a free concert!
The January Meeting will be on the 24th at Nancy Brockman's house in
Sonora. Directions will be in the January newsletter.
The Ring of Honor gathering will be January 3 at noon at El Mejor; please let J.Ann Lange know if you can attend so that she can reserve enough seats for all.
Have a very special and blessed Christmas this year and we look forward to seeing all of you at the Christmas Party on December 20!
In Aggie Mom Love,
Chris Hunter

SINGING CADETS ARE COMING!
Mark Thursday, January 10, 2008 on your calendars, and DO NOT PLAN TO MISS! Our Club was asked to host the Singing Cadets on their 2008 Winter Tour, and January 10 is our date! This is yet another event that takes many hands!
We will be asking for sponsorships. If you have a business and would like to place an ad in the concert program, we will have a place for you. If you would be willing to host at least two singers in your home overnight on January 10, we will have a place for you. If you would be willing to assist in greeting the group when they arrive in
San Angelo, we will have a place for you. If you can prepare cookies or other snacks that we can make available to the guys, we will have a place for you. If you have a business where we could put up a poster announcing the concert, we will have a place for you.
We hope to provide the concert as a free program to our community. We will pay all concert expenses with funds raised through sponsorships. We will also accept donations on the evening of the concert that we will add to our scholarship fund.
For more information, or to volunteer to help in one of the ways listed, call
Suzy Mears at 944-9146.
HOST HOMES ARE NEEDED!
Host homes are needed for the Texas A & M Singing Cadets on Thursday, January 10, 2008. If you can provide a bed each for two cadets for one night following the concert, please contact Nevie Lacy at 325-651-4532 or email at nevnews@aol.com. Our club must provide 23 homes to house the 46 cadets, so YOU ARE NEEDED!!! Anyone who has hosted a cadet in the past can assure you that this is a pleasure and a privilege, and you will be blessed by the time you spend with these young men.
Your responsbilities would include transporting them to your home following the concert, providing them an after-the-concert snack if the cadet is hungry, breakfast the next morning, and transportation back to their travel bus. PLEASE consider opening your homes for this special event. You will be so glad you did!!
PROGRAM FOR SINGING CADETS
Also - we are still accepting sponsorships -- ads are $100 for a business card size, $250 for a 1/2 page size, and $500 for a full page size.
Judy Turner is in charge of sponsorships. We are about half way to our goal right now, but we need for others to sponsor. We will do the honorarium/memorial thing once again on a page in the program. 1-line for $25, or 2-lines for $50.
ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants for the
San Angelo A&M Mothers' Club Endowed Scholarship can apply beginning January 1, 2008 through March 1, 2008. For more information, check with the San Angelo Area Foundation website, www.sanangeloareafoundation.org. For other questions regarding scholarships, contact Nevie Lacy at nevnews@aol.com
