PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
February is truly a great time to celebrate sweethearts, and we certainly have lots of sweethearts in Aggie Moms. Hugs and chocolate to all of you who helped to make our January such a great month. I think we are all just pinching ourselves, certain that that wonderful day with the Singing Cadets was a dream, but it wasn’t. It was a glorious day, and a great opportunity for all of you to show what sweethearts you are. Thank you for that. Suzy Mears has details on the concert elsewhere in this newsletter.
This month we will be meeting at the home of Harriet Sansone at 409 S. Jefferson, this coming Thursday night, February 16 at 6:30 pm. We will gather and visit at 6:30, and at 7:00 Ron Sasse, Director of Resident Life at Texas A&M will speak to us. Please bring along any students or Moms of students who are considering starting at A&M in the next year. This will be a great opportunity to get first hand information and ask questions.
Following our program we will have a short business meeting, and hear some updates on upcoming activities. We will also have an exciting update on our San Angelo Area Foundation Scholarship endowment fund. Please join us for the evening and catch up on what’s going on with our club.
Hope to see you there –
Gig ‘em,
Nevie Lacy

OPERATION SNAZZY STOOL - February 16 to March 23, 2006
Your mission, should you decide to accept it, will involve turning 25 plain, wooden step stools into works of art. Your medium of choice may include paints, stains, stencils, tile, decoupage or any other creative means. However, the stool should remain functional.
Step stools will be available at the February membership meeting. You are asked to take a stool, use your creative talents on the stool, and return the stool at the March meeting. Club members in attendance at the March meeting will decide, by popular vote, which three participants take top honors. Prizes will be awarded! All stools will then be sold at the Spring Boutique during Parents' Weekend (April 7-8) in College Station.
If you are unable to attend the February meeting and wish to be included in the fun, please call Shelley at 374-4640 to make arrangements to obtain a stool.
MARCH IS GOODY BAG MONTH!
Thanks to a generous contribution from one of our members, Goody Bag containers have been purchased! This semester, we will collect our goodies in clear plastic Sterilite storage boxes. These boxes are 7 Qt size, an appropriate size for CD storage (5 x 6 x 10 ½), and have attached flip top lids. Keep this size in mind as you gather your goodies. Once again, purchase enough goodies for 85 Aggies, and consider calling a friend and sharing the cost to purchase your contributions. Suggested items: school supplies, gum, mints, soup mixes, popcorn, cocoa mix, candy bars, granola bars, trail mix, inspirational bookmarks or refrigerator magnets. Use your imagination, but no liquids or perishables, please.

AGGIE MOMS' ANNUAL GARAGE SALE - Saturday, March 4, 2006
The annual garage sale will take place on Saturday, March 4, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Santa Rita Elementary School's Activity Building located at 615 S. Madison. The building will be open Friday evening (March 3) between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. for the Club to set up tables and arrange items for the sale. Help with this task would be greatly appreciated.
Items are needed for this sale!!! It's never too late to begin Spring Cleaning, girls. So, check those drawers, closets, attics and garages for items you no longer need or use. No item is too great or too small for this fund raiser! Remember, one woman's junk is another woman's treasure!
Give Shelley Gregg a call at 374-4640 if you wish to donate items, schedule a time to work, or have tables/clothes racks we can use. As always, proceeds will benefit the Club's Scholarship Fund.
DOOR PRIZES NEEDED!
Our door prize collection is getting low. If you have anything you would like to donate, please bring to the next meeting! Nevie loves to ring that cow bell, but we need prizes to make it ring!

NEW AGGIE MOM COOKBOOK
Over the next year San Angelo Aggie Moms will be putting together a new cookbook with the delivery date scheduled for January 2007. This will give us plenty of time to get the recipes typed in, proofread, and submitted to the publisher. We will have time to proof again once the book is delivered before taking it to Boutique in April of 2007. The main theme for this cookbook will be occasions and we will also feature favorite family menus. We have narrowed down our categories to the following:
- Fall Feasts and Festivals – pretty much self explanatory
- Girls Night Out – Bunko, Bridge, Aggie Mom Sleepovers, Meetings, etc.
- When They All Come Home – Holidays, Family Reunions, Celebrations such as Christenings, Graduation, Birthdays, etc.
- Showers and Brunches – Weddings, Showers, Brunches, Coffees, and Teas
- Tailgating and Bowl Parties – pretty much self explanatory
If anyone would like to submit an entire menu for one of the dividers listed above, we will be charging $25 per menu submitted. You can put as many recipes as you would like at no charge. For more information on this, please contact Lanee Warrick at 484-3005 laneewarrick@aggienetwork.com or Debbie Lisoski at 469-3935 dlisoski@saisd.org.
We have enclosed a form to be used to submit your recipes or to bring them to the next few meetings. We would like to have these in by the November meeting. Please feel free to make copies of the form for additional recipes.

Singing Cadets Wrap-Up
I think we would all have to agree that the day and evening of January 12, 2006 was a highlight for our club. The event that had been long in the planning was a huge success, both in terms of a standing room only audience, and in terms of dollars generated for our scholarship fund.
I think that we learned a lot about ourselves in the time between the notification that we would be a concert site (back in May), until the actual concert date. I do not want to lose sight of the journey that we all took together to accomplish such a wonderful evening. I am guilty of often being so focused on the final outcome that I fail to enjoy the road I’m on or the people I’m with. But as I look back over these last several months, I realize that I have new friends, better relationships with old friends, and a much deeper understanding of the resources that are available to San Angelo Aggie Moms.
Early on, many of you were volunteering to do one thing or another. Almost immediately, we had 12 names on the host family list. Continuous offers of assistance came, and all were welcome! I remember receiving a phone message from Aggie Mom, Toni Sudduth, offering to put the concert information on the “jumbo-tron” at her place of business on Loop 306. Penny Talley helped to make our posters have a professional appearance. Many of you took posters and put them up in your workplace. Some others made phone calls to line up housing or food or greeters. There were the folks who contributed items to the welcome baskets for Mr. Kipp, Mrs. Carter, and Missy Holloway. A group of Aggie Moms welcomed the Singing Cadets at the Depot and enjoyed visiting with them. You opened your homes to let the guys just “hang out.” Some of you used your computer skills to do program lay-outs. Others contacted area Aggies and enlisted sponsors. Some of you WERE sponsors! Slowly but surely San Angelo Aggie Moms sent in their kids’ photos for a Power Point presentation to be shown as people arrived at the concert. Lanee Warrick did a fabulous job on that! Aggie Moms greeted concert attendees, passed out programs, and manned our donation baskets at the doors. You made food, served food, took guys to the dry-cleaners, wrote “thank you” notes, and in EVERY WAY made the day memorable for all of us.
Thank you ALL so very much! I learned that there are countless talents in our club! And I also learned that working together, the sky is the limit!
The funds collected in sponsorships for the concert totaled $3,050.00. We collected at the door $1,456.22. At our January membership meeting, we voted to count this total of $4,506.22 as “new” money for purposes of the 2006 Area Foundation endowed scholarship matching. We voted to pay all concert expenses (which amounted to approximately $2,500) with “old,” or existing funds. You will recall that the $4,506.22 will be matched with existing club money (making the total $9,012.44), and this amount will go to the Area Foundation and be matched dollar for dollar again, making the total realized $18,024.88! We can ALL be very proud of this significant addition to our scholarship resources!
Thank you all again! This was truly a joy for me!
Gig ‘Em!
