LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Howdy [firstname]& Happy New Year!!

Sonora here we come!

Our first meeting of 2004 will be held in Sonora, this Saturday the 17th. We are all looking forward to the trip. We will meet at the Trinity Lutheran Church at 9:30 to leave for Sonora as a group. Claudia Dempsey has so generously offered her home to host the meeting for both the Sonora and San Angelo Aggie Moms’. A trip to Claudia’s is one you do not want to miss. She and the other Sonora girls really know how to entertain you. This will truly be one of the highlights this year.

Moms’, remind your Aggies about our tutorial scholarships. We still have quite a few available, and they are good through, May 14, 2004. The student needs to e-mail Kay Young at, bkhyoung@wcc.net, to request theses scholarships. Remember to have them put “Scholarship Request” in the subject line.

JANUARY MEETING

Saturday, Jan. 17, 6:30 p.m.
The January meeting will be held in Sonora this Saturday in the home of Claudia Dempsey. The hostesses for this meeting will be the Sonora Aggie Moms. Everyone will need to meet at Trinity Lutheran at 9:30 a.m. to carpool to Sonora. If you need more information, you can contact Claudia at 387-2048.

TUTORIAL SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

Criteria:

• We will have 60 scholarships of $50 each on a first come, first serve basis.
  
• It is necessary for the scholarship to be requested in advance by e-mail to Kay Young at bkhyoung@wcc.net. Please put “Tutorial Scholarship” in the subject line area of the email.
  
• Any student from our area enrolled at Texas A&M University may apply.
  
• The tutorial scholarship will be valid from the day issued until May 14, 2004.
  
• It will be advertised by publishing it on the web, e-mail, newsletter, distributed with the food coupons and area newspaper.
  
• We must have the student’s name, mailing address, parent’s address and student id for the tutorial coupon.
  
• The student can only use tutorial sources listed on the coupon.

AGGIE MOM SLEEPOVER

Be sure to mark you calendar now for Friday, February 20, for the annual Aggie Mom Sleepover. This annual event is always held at J. Ann Lange’s hunting lodge outside of Mertzon. We have a great time each year and you will not want to miss it. More details will follow in the February newsletter.

SPRING GOODY BAGS

The spring Goody Bag date has been changed to the April meeting. Be sure to watch the “After Valentine Sales” and the “After Easter Sales” for great bargains for the Goody Bags. The April meeting will be held on Thursday, April 15, which is the day before Parent’s Weekend.

IT’S NEARLY TIME! GARAGE SALE

Saturday, March 6
The garage sale has been set for Saturday, March 6 so start now by saving and collecting items to be sold at the garage sale. Money earned from the garage sale will help toward scholarships for our Aggies! If you have items that you really need to get rid of now, contact Ginger Bruton at 949-0395 or 949-2050.

COOKBOOKS

We still have cookbooks available. They will be available at all meetings or you may pick them up at Allen Young Office Machines (60 North Chadbourne) or Talley Printing. If you cannot make it downtown during business hours, call Kay Young (944-7038), Penny Tally (655-7361), or Ginger Bruton (949-0395 or 949-2050). They make great birthday and wedding gifts!

DOOR PRIZES ALWAYS NEEDED

Everyone loves door prizes – and we need donations! If you are in Aggieland and see something that you would like to receive (in the $5 range), please bring it to Debbie Lisoski at the next meeting.

Traci Zafereo (Aggie Mom, Cindy Zafereo) made her first 4.0 last semester. She also received her Aggie ring in December and will graduate in May.

Ross McCrea ‘01 (Aggie Parents, Roberta & Randy McCrea) will marry Jessica Stewart ’98 on June 12, 2004 in Greenwood, Texas. Ross is an Assistant Cattle Manager for Con-Agra Beef in Friona, Texas. Jessica is a high school science teacher in Blanco.

Ashley Brockman (Aggie Mom, Nancy Brockman) graduated in Ag. Journalism with an emphasis in PR in December. She has a job as Sales and Event Director for the Holiday Inn in College Station.
