HAPPY BIRTHDAY
San Angelo Aggie Moms!
We will be celebrating San Angelo A&M Aggie Moms’ Club 80th birthday at the May meeting which will be held Thursday,
May 17 at
Trinity
Lutheran
Church -
3536 YMCA Drive -
San Angelo at 6 p.m.
Everyone is encouraged to bring their favorite salad – birthday cake will be supplied!
Be sure not to miss this birthday extravaganza. We will have a short meeting and install new officers as well.
COOKBOOK PREORDERS
We are now pre-selling cookbooks which will be delivered Fall of 2007 (around the end of September or first of October). At this time, if you would like to reserve and prepay, you can do so for only $20 each. After the order has been placed, they will be $25. We encourage you to order as many as you need now. This will help us to know exactly how many we will need and also to have the money available to pay for them when they are delivered.
If you have more than one child, you may want to order for all of your kiddos. Also, think of yourself!
In addition, they will make great Christmas gifts, stocking stuffers, etc.
Just think for $100 you will get 5 cookbooks if you order now. If you wait until after they are delivered, you only get 4 cookbooks for $100.
You can download a cookbook order form at the following link:

CHINA
LUNCHEON
Would you like to model in the fashion show at the China Luncheon this fall? Do you know an Aggie who will be available in the
San Angelo area this fall who would like to model? We need Moms and Aggies of all ages, shapes and sizes to model for us. We'd even consider Moms who would like to team with their child (of any age!) to model. Please contact Nevie Lacy at 374-0204 to volunteer or suggest a name.
Also, we need merchants and shops for the show. If you have a contact or recommendation, please call with that information. We'd love to include local shops and vendors in our show. If you would like to help out with coordinating the show and doing behind-the-scenes activities, your help is needed and appreciated! This is a great way to be involved and get acquainted early in the year, for a once-a-year, IN TOWN activity! Last year's event (our first!) was lots of fun, and this year should be even better! Come be a part. Give us a call! Thanks,
Nevie Lacy

Howdy Aggie Moms!
It has been difficult for me to sit down and get started writing this article for our final newsletter of the year.
These last couple of weeks, and the weeks that lie ahead have been (and are) filled with personal and work responsibilities that have demanded my time and attention, and I know that these demands are at least partly responsible for my sluggishness.
But there is another part of me that does not want to see this year end, and my reluctance to do those tasks that will formally close out the year is just my way of trying to slow down time.
This has been an awesome year for Aggie Moms!
I cannot begin to tell you how much fun I’ve had!
I want to thank the entire membership for your support in each and every endeavor.
I have asked you for many things and every time you have exceeded my expectations. From our summer Meet & Greet with the Yell Leaders and Reveille, to submitting our Aggie Traditions cookbook for publication; from successfully putting together a fall luncheon and style show, to trying something new at the Parent’s Weekend Boutique – you have invested your time and energy and have offered help in every way.
We are a club with heart, and I think that we have set a high standard that certainly other clubs look to as an example.
Thank you Board Members!
This year’s board has approached each task with a spirit of cooperation and team work.
Never did I dread preparing for or going to a Board Meeting.
In fact, those nights were dates that I looked forward to.
Besides the fact that we conducted business and made plans for our club, we enjoyed each other’s company and got to be good friends.
You have given me some memories that are precious, and when I recall them, I will be grateful to have journeyed this stretch of the way with you.
Thanks to Joy Mears, my Aggie daughter . . . it is you who made me an Aggie Mom, and I am so proud that in less than two weeks, you will have a diploma from Texas A&M University.
And thanks to MY Aggie Mom, Ruby Falk . . . it is your well-lived life that has served as my example.
I would like to thank our Scholarship Committee.
They are Judie Williams, Chair; Nancy Book; and Judy Turner.
They have met and reviewed applications for both our Area Foundation scholarship and for our Club Memorial Scholarship.
These ladies have taken their task seriously, and have selected those recipients of each of the awards that they felt most deserving.
I understand that the job was a challenging one because each of the applicants had outstanding academic and extra-curricular achievements.
This is such an exciting aspect of our club because it is largely what we’re here for – making sure that we offer support of all kinds, but especially scholarship support to as many Aggies as we can.
Donna Palmer and Nancy Brockman have served this year as our Sunshine Co-Chairs.
Our Aggies have enjoyed their creativity in choosing some nifty goodie bag containers that they will be able to use over and over again.
And they have also enjoyed getting those gift cards each semester.
Thank you Donna and Nancy for your thoughtful and creative work.
If it had not been for Kay Young, Nancy Book, and Anna Bartosh, we would have gone hungry at all of our meetings this year.
These ladies took on the task of “Hospitality Committee” for the year.
These three ladies were last year’s Nominating Committee.
In the course of their work as a Nominating Committee, they realized that organizing all of the refreshments for meetings fell on a position that was already overloaded with responsibilities.
So they got together and planned all of our goodies for each meeting.
They have done a wonderful job, and I hope you will join me in thanking them.
J.Ann Lange served as our Ring of Honor Chair this year, and she took the job seriously of getting the Ring of Honor Moms together.
She was the world’s greatest reporter to that group.
But that was not enough for J.Ann.
She also stepped up to serve as Nominating Committee Chair.
I’d like to thank J.Ann for her enthusiasm and willingness to serve our club.
San Angelo Aggie Moms are celebrating 80 years of serving Aggie families from our ten county area.
We have a heritage that is rich and full.
Join me at our May membership meeting Thursday, May 17 as we celebrate our 80 years!
We’ll have all of our scrap books available and open for you to look at.
Melba Cox, Aggie Mom President when our club celebrated its 50-year anniversary, will do our officer installation.
This will be an evening where we take a look back, but then look ahead as we name and congratulate our scholarship recipients for the upcoming year and install officers for 2007-2008.
We’ll be recognizing our May and August graduates also at our May 17 meeting.
Don’t miss it!
What an honor it has been for me to be your President this year.
It is a year I will never forget, and I will cherish our friendship the rest of my life.
Thanks, and Gig ‘Em!
Suzy Mears ‘77
