LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Howdy [firstname]!

Well, we have made it through the first full month of school! Does it seem like it? My how time flies! The career center has already contacted me, asking that we pass along to all of our graduating seniors for December and May, to please come by. The seniors need to sign up for job interviews and to visit counselors at hand. The Career Center offers a variety of educational and employment services designed to assist Aggies every step of the way as they explore career options and make their decisions for the future. So, Mom’s remind your seniors to please go by!

The “Twelfth Man” towels are in and will be at the next meeting. We were also given an additional 25 towels to distribute. We will be selling these for $2, so come to the meeting early and make your purchase.

Another note on meetings, if it is your turn to bring refreshments and you cannot, will you please make arrangements with someone to cover for you; do not hesitate to give me a call, I will be glad to help.

The October meeting holds a very special and wonderful treat for us. Ewa Davis will be speaking to us about her life growing up in Poland. I know we will all want to hear what she has to say. She is so delightful anyway, and we are so lucky to have her as an Aggie Mom.

FOOTBALL TICKET CORNER

Several people are looking for football tickets and hotel rooms for all games. If you have tickets or rooms that you do not need, please contact Paula Sweeten at 659-8537. She will try to match up tickets and people!

RING OF HONOR LUNCH — Thurs., Oct. 23, 11 a.m.

The purpose of this group is to retain members of former students in an effort to continue friendships and associations that we have made during our tenure as Aggie Moms. Ring of Honor meets three times a year for lunch and to catch up with the latest activities of the main group and offer support. The next meeting will be on Thursday, October 23 at 11 a.m. and will be held at Peasant Village. If you are interested in attending, please call Betty Baden at 942-9275.

After the November meeting, the e-mail address book will be cleaned up and updated. If you have not joined, you will no longer receive notices about Aggie Moms. Don’t let this happen – join now!

GOODY BAGS — Coming in November…

Just a reminder that “Goody Bag” time is just around the corner. Now is the time to start looking for items to put into the “Goody Bags.” Several of you may even wish to go in together when purchasing these items. Some ideas include: snacks, popcorn, candy, gum, hot chocolate, highlighters, note pads, sticky notes, pens, pencils, toothbrushes, razors (please no liquid drinks or breakable items).

SELL! SELL! SELL!

Raffle tickets are now available for sale and to be sold. We need everyone to pick up at least one bundle to be sold. They sell for $1 each. The raffle is for two signed prints donated by Benjamin Knox. You can pick up your bundle at the next meeting or by contacting Ginger Bruton at 949-0395 or 949-2050.

DECEMBER GRADUATES

If you have an Aggie graduating in December, please call Paula Sweeten at 658-7015. If you are leaving a message, please be sure to include your Aggie’s name and class year (which is not necessarily the year they graduated!)

GARAGE SALE — Saturday, March 6

The garage sale has been set for Saturday, March 6 so start now by saving and collecting items to be sold at the garage sale. Money earned from the garage sale will help toward scholarships for our Aggies! If you have items that you really need to get rid of now, contact Ginger Bruton at 949-0395 or 949-2050.

We still have cookbooks available. They will be available at all meetings or you may pick them up at Allen Young Office Machines (60 North Chadbourne) or Talley Printing. If you cannot make it downtown during business hours, call Kay Young (944-7038), Penny Tally (655-7361), or Ginger Bruton (949-0395 or 949-2050). They make great Christmas and wedding gifts!

DOOR PRIZES ALWAYS NEEDED

Everyone loves door prizes – and we need donations! If you are in Aggieland and see something that you would like to receive (in the $5 range), please bring it to Debbie Lisoski at the next meeting.

Robert LeGrand '98 and ‘01, (son of Aggie Mom, Marsha LeGrand) has just started his doctorial program at Washington University in St. Louis on full scholarship. He is working as a graduate teaching assistant and is really enjoying it. His family is very proud of him!
