*Most of our meetings this year will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church. Our club membership has grown largerthan most homes can accommodate. We want to say a great big THANK YOU to Trinity Lutheran Church for so generously letting us meet in their fellowship hall.

Lucky Loot

Look for the “LUCKY LOOT” basket at each meeting, sign up your Aggie and place a dollar ($1) in the basket. When a name is drawn, all the money in the basket belongs to that lucky Aggie. You do not have to participate in the drawing, it is an optional way for us to help our Aggies. You must be present at the meeting to be the winner of the loot. Just remember, “If you do not put money in, your Aggie can’t win”

COOKBOOK

By the time this reaches the press, we should have the cookbook in the mail. We hope to have the books back by December, just in time for Christmas giving!!!

Thanks to each of you for sending in recipes, making donations, (Memorials. Honors and Sponsorships) and passing the word to other Aggies. A special Thank You to our typists and proof readers. This is a big project and we could not have been successful without the help of the membership and officers. Thank you for saying “yes” when we needed your assistance.

We will still need help before the books arrive and especially after. Thank you notes need to be written, billings sent out, early order sales and organization of the sales. Please think of the “cookbook committee” when you want something to do in your spare time. We need all the help that we can get from the membership since the work has just begun!

FEDERATION REPORT FROM SUSAN CLARK YOUR FEDERATION LIAISON

Saturday, August 25, the Federation of TAMU Mothers’ Clubs opened its new year with the first business meeting and workshops. Dr. Bowen gave us another wonderful review of all the latest news and events involving our students and school; such as the honor of being invited to be a member of the Association of National Universities, which has only 103 members. As he put it, “We were proud to accept the offer.”

Campus construction was another item of concern included in his message. Wellborn Road is presently under construction at the entrance to Kyle Field where an underground passageway is being built, This will he a huge obstacle during all the football games, but please remember that there have been student deaths and many accidents because students had to cross the tracks. It is for the students that we must be patient with this mass confusion.

In an effort to work better with Blinn College, A&M will partnership with them by allowing students to duel enroll at Blinn and A&M. While taking 3 or 4 classes at Blinn, students can also take 1 class at A&M, which will make it possible for students to participate in A&M activities and organizations.

Website interests include the capital campaign for the Sterling L. Evans Library, the Bonfire Task report and the committee appointed to find a new president for A&M University. Check these out to be up to date on the latest news. The federation website is: www.aggiemoms.org

The report on the last legislature proceedings was both good and bad. The good news was that schools will still be able to consider family legacy as a consideration in reviewing applications for admissions. We all know how A&M has much heritage that goes back many generations in many of our families. To not be able to consider that would be so sad. The bad news is that money is tight even in our government, There will be no funds given to student organizations, so that will put a real hardship on all our student organizations on campus. Consider this when you are thinking of donations.

Our speaker for the program was Assistant Director of the MSC. He was a dynamic speaker, pleasantly humorous and quite interesting. I hope more of you will consider going to the next meeting, which will be January 12, 2002, the weekend before school starts for spring semester.
