
The San Angelo A & M Mothers’ Club awards one or more $1000 Memorial Scholarships to current students each spring. Selection is conducted on a non-discriminatory basis. Any student meeting the following guidelines is qualified to complete a scholarship application, which can be found online at www.sanangeloaggiemoms.org. The scholarship is also publicized in area newspapers. The scholarship is available to all students attending Texas A&M University whose families live in the San Angelo A&M University Mothers’ Club membership area. All applicants to this scholarship must have completed two long semesters at Texas A&M University to be eligible. Applications for the scholarship must be postmarked no later than Monday, April 14, 2008. All Texas A&M University rules must be obeyed and upheld with no exceptions. All recipients must be enrolled as full-time students of the university, with no co-operative education planned during the scholarship-funded year. The three members of the Scholarship Committee review applications and scholarships are awarded at the May General Membership meeting. Applicants are not personally interviewed for the scholarship. The Scholarship Committee may contact the applicant’s listed references for further information. Two alternates are selected in the event that the recipient(s) withdraw(s) from attendance or does (do) not maintain the criteria agreed to in the scholarship application form. All information received and reviewed by this committee is held in the strictest of confidence. If a member of the Scholarship Committee is a parent or close friend of any of the applicants, upon request of the Committee, the President of this organization serves in review capacity or appoints a non-interested member to serve. Scholarship monies are forwarded to the Texas A&M University Fiscal Department to be applied to the recipient’s account. A Student may receive a scholarship only one (1) time. Selection is balanced between financial need and scholastic achievements. Memorial Scholarships are funded from memorials received, $5.00 of each member’s dues, interest on CDs, and other fundraising projects including the “A Place At Our Table” luncheon and silent auction, cookbook sales, Parents Weekend Boutique sales, garage sales, Singing Cadets concerts and other projects.
The San Angelo A & M Mothers’ Club endowed scholarship fund at the San Angelo Area Foundation awards a $1000 per year scholarship, renewable for up to 4 years as long as the student maintains eligibility. This scholarship is open to both incoming freshmen and current students of the University. Applications are available online at www.sanangeloareafoundation.org and the recipient is selected by their committee but must be from the area served by the San Angelo A & M Mothers’ Club. Students who apply for this scholarship are also considered for ALL scholarships administered by the Area Foundation for which they are eligible.
Tutorial Scholarships are offered to students served by the San Angelo A & M Mothers’ Club. Students can apply for certificates for tutoring from participating tutorial services by contacting Tutorial Chairman Suzy Mears at g-mommymears@suddenlink.net.
